Beryllium copper is a copper alloy with 0.5 to 3% beryllium (Be) added to copper, and boasts the highest hardness among copper alloys. It has excellent corrosion resistance and strength, and is used in a wide range of fields such as welding machine parts and electrodes.
The main beryllium copper used for machining includes BeCu 25 and BeCu 50.
Characteristics of beryllium copper:
Difference between BeCu 25 (C1720) and BeCu 50
The difference between the two is the beryllium content. BeCu 25 has a high beryllium content and is strong, while BeCu 50 has a low beryllium content and is highly conductive.
BeCu 25 (C1720)
BeCu 25 is classified as a high beryllium copper alloy and contains about 1.8 to 2.0% beryllium. Age hardening can achieve a maximum tensile strength of about 1350N/mm2. It is the material that can achieve the hardest hardness among copper alloys. The JIS standard name is C1720, and this material is common for beryllium copper sheet materials.
