SUS440C High strength and hardness martensitic stainless steel can be obtained by heat treatment (quenching / tempering). It is the steel with the highest hardness among stainless steels. Corrosion resistance is superior to general hardening steels, but lower than austenite, ferritic and precipitation-hardening stainless steels due to their high carbon (C) content.
